NATIONAL PRIDE FEST 2021

ABOUT THE EVENT

‘‘History owes an apology to these people and their families. Homosexuality is part of human sexuality. They have the right to dignity and free of discrimination. Consensual sexual acts of adults are allowed for the LGBTQ community”-Justice Indu Malhotra (Navtej Singh Johar v. UoI)

LABHARAT and LEXLAWGICAL are organizing NATIONAL PRIDE FEST, 2021 as they recognized the need for a virtual platform at this time of Pandemic where students can be a part of a platform where they can express their views/concerns by showcasing their writing skills. This Competition is conceived with the aim of promoting & developing skills and testing the knowledge of the students across the nation. Every day people think to find a reason to help someone or do good for society. This event will not only increase our knowledge but will also give us a reason to do good for the society, for its people and most importantly it’ll bring about a good and positive change in ourselves.

AN LGBTQIA+ PRIDE

Across the globe, different occasions are held during this exceptional month as a method of perceiving the impact LGBTQIA+ individuals have had all throughout the world. It is a development that celebrates sexual orientations and the various sexes. LGBTQIA+ community is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer, intersex, asexual along all the other sexual orientations and allies which are represented by ‘+’ sign for due inclusivity. It is a community that is still fighting (peacefully) for equal human rights, for acceptance, and, most importantly, for the right to love without fear. It advances their nobility, equivalent rights, self-insistence and is a method of expanding society’s consciousness of the issues they face. The National Pride Fest, 2021 is a first of its kind event organised by the LexLawgical Club of School of Law in collaboration with Law Bharat, with such a heartwarming motive of providing safe and flourishing environment for the LGBTQ+ community. We in Manipal School of Law, facilitate students for holistic development to deal with everyday challenges besides advocacy skills, amongst which are social barriers and ills like social discrimination.

The event is organized with respect to such social barriers specifically faced by the LGBTQ+ community , we have built a safe space for everyone and would strive to increase its sphere in the future.
